Docklands Rebirth - Relief & intaglio print on A4 paper
A Season of Renewal
Snowdrops burst through the frozen ground as darkness slowly gives way to light, and the strengthening days welcome the arrival of spring. This sense of renewal has inspired my latest body of work. New growth overshadowing the past is the central theme of these pieces, focusing on the modern Docklands that now stand where the bustling Victorian world trading centre once flourished. The works reflect on how contemporary landscapes quietly carry the echoes of history beneath their surface.
Theme: Echoes of Trade and Transformation
The financial institutions that dominate the Docklands today have replaced an earlier economic world where spices, alcohol and silks were the prominent commodities of trade. Within the modern glass city, reflective planes mirror not only the present skyline but also a vibrant and significant past. These reflections symbolise the foundations laid by earlier generations whose trading networks helped shape the life and commerce we experience today.
Technique: Layering Time Through Print
If you have been following my social media posts, you may have noticed that in recent months I have been concentrating on refining my printing techniques. To express contrasts between past and present, I have combined a relief print layered over a traditional etching. Each process uses separate plates, and the registration must be extremely precise for the images to align successfully. After many attempts and careful adjustments, I am pleased to have finally achieved the result I was aiming for.

Update on London’s Interfaith Exhibition
The amazing exhibition Shared Light in Zedwell Piccadilly was not only so successful but has been an inspiration to combat hate crime. I have felt so privileged to bring a positive contribution to an event that is able to bring harmony within our community. The success has been so great that it has been extended until the 12th of April. Links below share some of the articles of the exhibition.
